News - Wales Clinch Victory In Copenhagen

Posted: 19 November 2008

On a cold, wet night in Copenhagen, Wales recorded a fine 1-0 win, thanks to a second half goal from captain Craig Bellamy.

The Wales team, probably the youngest on record at only an average age of 22, were better for long periods of the game, though Boaz Myhill needed to pull-off a great save minutes from time to secure the win.

In the first half, chances fell to Bellamy and Ched Evans without success, but the side showed great pace and movement, much of it coming from the two midfield newcomers, Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal) and Jack Collison (WHU).

The Danes were also dangerous, but Wales, with some great counter-attacking, was always a threat and the win was well deserved overall.

Craig Bellamy's goal mirrored his contribution from ten years ago - almost to the month - when he scored the winner in a European Championship game against the Danes in Copenhagen.
